HISTORY

The building of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin 2 actually is the former Palace of the Sultanate of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Jayo Badaruddin Wikramo or Sultan Mahmud I (1724-1758). Unfortunately, in 1821, this palace was attacked by Holland. Because of the damaged and there’s no good views, this building was finally demolished on the orders of the Dutch Commissaris Reguring, JLvan Seven Hoven in 1823. In 1825, completely renovated the building and serve as the Commissioner's Office Government of the Netherlands East Indies to southern Sumatra, as well as the office of the Resident. In the years 1942 - 1945, this magnificent building was occupied by the Japanese. But after the proclamation of Indonesian independence, this building belongs to the Republic of Indonesia again. And now, this building has officially become a museum called the Museum of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II. Museum Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II is the perfect place to explore the history of Palembang. From the sriwijaya era, Palembang Darussalam Sultanate, the Dutch colonial era and the Japanese occupation until the beginning of the independence of Indonesia.

ARCHITECTURE

The Architecture of the building itself is very unique because it is a combination of the Dutch colonial period and style of the original palace of Palembang that is Limas House. The roof of Museum Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II like limas house roof. This is the picture of Limas house.

Before we enter to this museum, we have to pass a halft of circle upstair, I think this upstair is very unique.

The architecture of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II is still original. The difference is only found in the yard of this museum. But now, the yard of Museum Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin 2 have been already changed by cement floor and there are only a few of plant. In this museum you can enjoy around 556 collections of historic objects, such as Numismatika Collection , Etnografika Collection, Keramologika Collection , Art Collections, arkeologika Collection, and Biologika Collection. This is the picture collection of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II.

My bedroom is the most comfortable room to take a rest and relax. In my bedroom, there is a pink bed. My bed is very soft and comfortable. On the bed, there is soft sheet and warm pink blanket. There are two soft pillows and my head is very comfortable when I sleep with that pillow. Beside that, on the bed there is a teddy bear doll who always accompany my sleep. Next to the bed, there is a wardrobe. I always keep my clothes neatly in the wadrobe. Across from the wardrobe, there is a desk. On the desk, lesson books are always tidy. A lot of school equipments are on the desk. My bedroom is more comfortable with an electric fan, so that makes the atmosphere in my room is getting cool. My bedroom floor is always clean. Nothing waste such as crumpled paper and gum wrappers in my bedroom. The color of my wall is white. The walls are full of posters of my favorite band, my photo when I was child until adult.
